You’re not alone in feeling lonely
We’ve built a space for stories told through words, sounds and visuals that help people feel connected, to themselves and to others.
About A/Part of the Crowd
A/Part of the crowd was named to reflect the simple fact that you can feel lonely, even when surrounded by people. This space exists to invite belonging and help you feel truly part of the crowd.
Loneliness is something many young adults go through, especially in times of change. A/Part of the Crowd is an Australian research project that responds to the impact of loneliness on mental health.
We believe that talking about our loneliness helps create a sense of shared experience, understanding and belonging. This space is here for you to browse real stories of loneliness, change and everything in between. We hope you feel welcome here.

Stories connect us.
Loneliness thrives in silence. Stories break that silence and remind us we’re not alone. We have gathered these stories since June 2024, through guided story-making workshops and a story-sharing space like we have today.
